Our Mission & Vision

The mission of Stevens Memorial Baptist Church is to love God, to love others, and to magnify the name of Jesus Christ. The vision of our church is to glorify our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, to make true disciples throughout all the nations by means of missionary activity and support, to minister the ordinances, to edify believers, and to do all that is sovereignty possible and Biblically permissible to magnify the name of Jesus.
Our Staff: 

Dr. Jay Russ, Pastor

As the pastor, Pastor Jay has a passion for carefully unpacking the truths of Scripture. He has served at  Stevens Memorial Baptist Church since 2005. He and his wife have two daughters.
Joseph Guardino, Minister of Music
Joseph Guardino has been the Minister of Music since June 2019.  He invites all to join our music program, whether you are an experienced singer or a novice.  He also welcomes and instrumentalists.
Bev Forbes, Secretary
Bev has been our secretary since August 2019, and she and her husband have been members of Stevens Memorial Baptist Church since 2007.  They have two daughters and two grandsons. Please contact Bev if you have any questions about our church at 757-877-4691 or e-mail at SMBCOffice@verizon.net.

Our Deacons:

Our Deacons recognize the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer, to our family ministry,  and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.
